RMweb Premium Welly Posted August 8, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 8, 2016 Sorry - what is it that we are looking at? This is what I get when I enter the coords. Â https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@48.1041736,0.249266,490m/data=!3m1!1e3 Â I did notice Bonnetable station still has a turntable that appears to be functional? 66C
There appears to be a new railway formation under construction nearby.
brigo
I presume the OP is refering to the "new" turntable at Bonnetable. Or maybe not.  The actual coordinate for the turntable is 48°10'24.8"N 0°25'08.9"EBrian
Dungrange
There seems to be a very tight radius between the approach track and the turntable deck at that location.
sn
There seems to be a very tight radius between the approach track and the turntable deck at that location. Yes it was the turntable. Does this steam railway run into the mainline junction station at the southern end of the line?
Fat Controller
Yes it was the turntable. Does this steam railway run into the mainline junction station at the southern end of the line? It does; if you follow the trace on Google Earth, you'll see it runs parallel to the main line, but separated from it by a row of small trees and bushes. There are some facilities at the junction; at least one engine shed. Curiously, there's no turntable. Here's a link to the railway's web-site:- http://www.transvap.fr/
w124bob
Brief shot of the turntable at 13mins, the whole channel has some nice clips all with subtitles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyxKuONKFzk

RMweb Premium melmerby Posted August 13, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 13, 2016 OK then, some more intersting "googles" Is this Brazil's "Barry"?  https://goo.gl/maps/EzFg1oPUoC22  And another one here:  Aerial https://goo.gl/maps/pd8RvRVqT7o Streetview https://goo.gl/maps/ZbHSE735iDp  The latter seems to be a station complete with locos and stock which is now cut-off from the rail network.  Found whilst googling around Rio during the Olympics!  Keith

It was abandoned around the turn of the century, I think. Strange to see they just left the stock there and severed the line though.
RMweb Premium melmerby Posted August 13, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 13, 2016 That looks like the old Leopoldina station. It was abandoned around the turn of the century, I think. Strange to see they just left the stock there and severed the line though. Whether either of those locations are still there is doubtful as so much re-juvenation work has been done in the vicinity for the Olympics.  As regards the "dump"  E.G. 2010: https://goo.gl/maps/bfFajkvd7E92  Same location 2016: https://goo.gl/maps/LXDqdcp3etj  The old shed has been revamped as a bus interchange with the new tram line.
