Went outside to give a letter to the mail lady and a huge chunk of our biggest oak broke off and fell 30 feet. only damage to the fence luckily enough. RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted July 5, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 5, 2014 Just very busy with seasonal chores and work etc. Now that summer is here there is a danger level of high right now and that means all yard machine usage such as weed whackers, mowers and chainsaws is before 1pm. So what with that and trying to beat the heat I'm not usually on here until everyone else has gone to bed! We've had some major electrical problems which needed sorting and repairs to the pump. I don't even like to mention the chimney sweeping event yesterday, where the brush got stuck and the pipe had to be dismantled and took up the rest of the day coaxing it back together. The drywall in the garage is nearly finished, the woodwork shop is up and running and work is coming in thick and fast. Pictures when I get 5 mins. The mill has been sat on my workbench for most of the week! Too knackered to get on with it though and had to put it away as we had guests!! For a temporary set up I thought I might just put Goathland and Dunster together in the garage. Not prototypical but could be a lot of fun. Mrs. S. got stung twice yesterday by hornets and there were paper wasps up there under the chimney cowling, luck has it that they're not aggressive otherwise I might have fallen off the roof. Our friend came to visit with her 5 year old so we obviously retreated to the attic to drive some trains. The warm weather has proved this isn't a good home for layouts as the track has expanded causing shorts due to the live frog arrangements on Dunster. So my idea is to move it in with Goathland to the well insulated garage which I can install an air conditioning unit. As they both share the fiddle yard the obvious move would be to add in a couple of points and run it as a branch! The idea of catching a DMU service from Exmoor to the North York Moors sounds great wouldn't you agree? Goathland ready to go... Dunster suffering in the heat. Mrs. S. had a better idea.Well lets just say that's the first chain saw experience over with! You wouldn't believe what hard work that is, especially in 90F weather. Fun though. Now back to mill building. I can't make a decision about how to finish off the roof. The prototype has a double hipped roof but I think the model would look better with a walled in double gable. The garage dry wall is finished so I got in there Friday and Saturday and gave it a coat of primer. Then......... I took Dunster apart and began moving all the parts into the garage/train hall! Today with the help of Mrs. Sasquatch we began with the assembly of Goathland. After sorting many electrical problems the layout is up and running.
