RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted February 8, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2019 Hi Mal, It's good you are back among your RMWeb friends, like many others I'm also lost for words. It seems strange to send someone good wishes but I mean these in the sense that things are as good as they can be in the difficult circumstances. Thinking of you and your family and friends. 3 4 1

Popular Post chrisf
Mal, I could not go jetting off down under without thanking you publicly for the help you have given me in our all too brief e-acquaintance. You nudged me towards counselling and I'm so glad you did, for I am both feeling and functioning better as a result. Whatever else happens I will never forget this act of kindness. The Lurker
Mal, sorry to read that the second opinion concurred with the first. There's not a lot else that I can say except that we're here for you 6
Natalie
Hi Mal Just wanted to add my voice to what everyone else has written. You clearly have a lot of friends on here who care deeply for you. I am a lurker on ER and don’t often post but felt moved by your fortitude. Above all you seem to be a staggeringly brave and above all dignified man. Your courage is quite simply stunning and awe inspiring. I doubt that I would be if I were facing similar. I don’t know what else to say really as I know there is nothing that I can do or say to provide you with real comfort. You and your family remain continually in all of our collective thoughts. Popular Post Purley Oaks
Just checking in to say that Gabe's about to give me a jacuzzi bath in the hospice - never knew they had one, but it should be a whole lot better than a bed bath. It's quite an amazing place here, very calm and restful but also cheerful. Speaking of which, one of the indignities is suppositories which I've decided to rename Deep Joy (thanks to Stanley Unwin). The jacuzzi bath is fantastic, just out and resting on the bed now. Things still surreal, feeling like an actor speaking some of these words, still shocked but with a quiet acceptance and getting on with quality things apart from the admin! RMWeb is a great place to be - sure I've done no modelling whatsoever since I've been here, but I have bought a lot of stuff for the layout in my new house, so there'll be some auction bargains somewhere sometime. Will pop in again soon. My real life name is Malcolm Stewart, btw. Take it easy Mal 6
RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted February 12, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2019 Absolutely delighted to hear from you Mal. Your sense of humour does you great credit as does Gabe. To be able to give us a laugh, as well perhaps as laughing along with us, is absolutely in the spirit of Jock who we named this place after. I sincerely hope you can manage more such comments. Keeping spirits up is not easy. You are a light and inspiration to others around you and to those yet to visit this place. My prayers and offer of support and friendship are with you both. 4 17 1

RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted February 12, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 12, 2019 Great to hear from you Mal and that the sense of humour is still strong. Beth found a cure for constipation when two of us were chopping a tree down and a large branch came down of it's own accord and a stray branch banged on the roof above the smallest room that she was occupying. She said it was a lot quicker acting than Movicol. All the best Jamie
Andrew P
Every now and then, (not often these days I must admit), you meet or hear of someone who really inspires and gives inspiration to others, well for me, at this moment in time, it's Mal. You and Gabe really are gems. Andy. 4 12
AndyID
Mal, I have no words, but here's an old joke: Lady from Kelvinside visits friend in Morningside. Kelvinside-lady: "Our rates are terrible. Do you have big rates too?" Morningside-lady: "Oh no. We don't have rates in Morningside . A few small maice perhaps, but nae rates." RMweb Gold PeterBB Posted February 12, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2019 Mal, Such humour just shows your strength of character and your description of the hospice brings back both sad and positive memories ... Dad's last weeks were extremely happy for him and the care was superb. In our prayers for you and Gabe. Peter 10 1

RMweb Premium newbryford Posted February 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 13, 2019 Mal. Your grace and humour is outstanding at this difficult time. Popular Post geoffers
Phew I am back on RMWeb. Went into hospital on Thursday 31st January and had bladder, prostate et. al. removed on 1st February. Slow recovery due to bowels going to sleep. Slowly improved and got back home last Thursday evening. So 14 days in hospital. Have lost 18lbs in the process of having tubes out of virtually every orifice. no food for 11 days. Boy did food taste nice when resumed. Hurrah back home. RMWeb was down during hospital and only just managed to get back on. Hurrah. Love to all. 2
RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted February 16, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 16, 2019 Positive news Geoff. Very pleased to hear it. What is the long-term outlook? It’s one thing getting out of hospital but the long-term recovery can also be a bumpy ride. Best wishes. 6
Popular Post geoffers
Positive outlook at the moment. Next appointment in four weeks when, no doubt, more info will be forthcoming and the journey planned out. Am suffering from neuralgia/sciatica at the moment due, I believe, to pressure sores caused by lying in a hospital bed for 14 days. It is not so easy to move around the bed when sprouting a multitude of tubes.
Purley Oaks
Thinking of you, Geoff, you've been through a tough one. My hospice bed had air mattresses pumping 24/7 to stop pressure sores so I'm sorry to read that a possibly preventable condition has happened. Sounds like you've reached your BMI weight, though! Very best wishes to you, hope you're up and running a wee bit more now, a fortnight on. Mal 1
Popular Post Purley Oaks
Hi everyone Unable to log on from the hospice for a while, apologies. Arrived home this afternoon, which is a wonderful place to be. And it's our new home! Gabe managed the move with help from many wonderful friends and family last Friday. Course nothing was signed until the previous Monday - the clown holding it up for our buyers was an architect moaning about a fifty-quid lavatory extractor fan. FF and S. Not only that she dealt with all of the other extraneous stuff that goes with moving house too (apart from Virgin who insisted I call from the hospice!) so I figure that qualifies her for dealing with anything anywhere on the planet; she is truly awesome (not that I'm totally indispensable, of course). Back later when I've recovered from the excitement! Mal 5

RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted February 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 28, 2019 Mal. You and Gabe have been foremost in our thoughts and prayers. RMweb Premium NGT6 1315 Posted February 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 28, 2019 Mal, I‘m kind of at loss for words, and I particularly do not want to sound maudlin or otherwise downcast... The best thing I can muster right now is, hats off to you and Gabe, and I shall continue to send you both my thoughts and best wishes for whatever will come. 8
