RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted April 15, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 15, 2016 Well, I really did think that 5'6 would be the lowest but it is only the bronze medallist. I'm surprised that the health & safety people haven't insisted on some foam rubber to protect folks' heads.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted April 15, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 15, 2016 SWML near the Bishton Flyover- there was a gated crossing controlled by a 'box ther, but I'm not sure if the box has been replaced during the ongoing resignalling. I notice the Google Earth car didn't go under the bridge. Burcott Road in Hereford is my nomination in this category. The picture below is not the best, (I need to re-scan it at some time), but the sign states 5'-0" clearance and the width is only just enough to fit a car in, and from the side in the photo, it is not a straight approach. The line over the top was originally the main line from Barton to Barrs Court Junction, but in later years was only a siding into Wiggins. At the time of the photo it had not been used for years. Slide 08-91S--037.jpg Paul J. Edited to correct an important spelling mistake. I can imagine a Chelsea Tractor getting stuck in there.
RMweb Premium SM42 Posted April 16, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 16, 2016 The Google car went under the 10 footer on Station Rd, Singleton on the Blackpool line. Some interesting effects there when you try to spin the view around. I feel a bit seasick now. Andy

RMweb Premium 47137 Posted April 17, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 17, 2016 At Atherstone, the bridge taking the WCML over Old Watling Street is signed as 6'9". It certainly felt claustrophobic in the Mazda with the roof open. Noisy too. Sorry if this is too late for your survey. - Richard.

RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted April 18, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 18, 2016 I'd like to enter Coppermill Lane across London's Hackney Marshes between Walthamstow and Clapton for entry into the 5-foot club. This one is a mere 5-feet-nothing and on a popular cycle route where I used to have my chin on the handlebar to get under safely; most cyclists get off and walk through for fear of clipping the ironwork. It's not a main road but it is a through road and it passes beneath the GE main line from Liverpool Street towards Cambridge. The image is necessarily fuzzy because the Goggle-car was unable to go under and has turned in the adjacent bay provided for such moves at rail height and to the left. I do not own copyright of this Google image; the watermark has been applied by my hosting site by default. It's too big to upload directly to RMweb. It changed between 2012, 2011, and 2009. It's there in July 2012, but not there in March 2011!

(coincidentally in a Ford Fiesta as per my pic) Cheers, Mick It definitely used to be signed from the Llanwern works side (shortest route to a decent chippy and a nice pub from my then place of work, some 40 odd years ago). The Mini would go underneath but our workabus had to use the level crossing.
