That will be sorted tomorrow. Also tomorrow it will be test run on the layout through the cross overs ect Always have been drawn to SR locos, since building an Arfix Schools class 50 years ago. I like the smoke deflectors. 1
jazz
Hi everyone. I have very sadly had to cancel my visit to Guildex. I have been laid up with covid. Just had a short spell on the PC this morning and feeling washed out. Hope you lucky ones that can go have a great time. Regards Ken

I had it early on, mine was quite mild. Books on tape are a godsend. Get better.
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted September 4, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2022 Get well soon Ken. I had it back in April. Posted a few pics from the show today. Cheers, Ade.
jazz
Just before a break in Edinburgh for a few days while HM Queen lay in State I almost finished this carriage van. Just added the brakes today and got it primed. I also got this horse box finished before we went there too.

jazz
This one is a Connoisseur Models N7 which was part built. I was asked to complete the chassis & body. It's quite tarnished, so tomorrow will be a big cleanup session and then priming as usual. I have installed a heavy weight in the boiler so it will pull quite a load. Edited September 21, 2022 by jazz Had wrong manufacturer.
jazz
You will notice I had the wrong manufacturer of the N7. It's a Connoisseur Models. 😳
jazz
Well, that's the N7/3 all done ready for the off. I do like Big Jim's kits although in this instance there was not much left for me to complete.

Need to finish mine off- thanks As you will see from the photo, there are four pegs and two short guide strips front and rear. I have made four cuts in each corner to accept the pegs. When the model is painted the roof could be glued in place to the cab sides. It is important to ensure the roof is curved exactly correct to sit snugly in place. 6 1
jazz
Yesterday I started the next loco. This is the Gladiator Kit J25. OK so far.
Rob Pulham
Watching this one with even greater interest as I have one of these in my stash.
doilum
I have a soft spot for the J25. It was my first tender engine build, a George Norton kit about thirty years ago. One day I will get round to rebushing the axles. It covered hundreds of real miles on a continuous attic layout at my previous house but has spent most of the last decade in a display box.
jazz
That's the J25 tender built. A Gladiator kit, (ex Fourtrack kits). It was reasonably easy to build requiring some careful marking out to fit some parts.

I'm also watching this one with added interest as I fancy building an 0-6-0 tender engine at some point for no particular project, it would probably be between this kit or one of Jim's J36's which you showed us a while back. As ever, looking good so far, Ken. Regards, Ian.
jazz
J25 loco chassis is now well under way. I found the frame spaces were not wide enough without having to use quite a few axle washers plus the brake hanger supports would not line up with wheels. So I made wider one and solved the problem.
jazz
Onwards now with the body. All going nicely.
jazz
Almost completed the body now. Just a few tweakes here and there to get it right.
jazz
Well, that's pretty much the body done. I still have to fabricate a fall plate though. 12 5
jazz
J25 is now ready for the off. There is very little room for the fall plate, so I decided to fit a very narrow fixed one. The drop down one would not be practical I think. Even the narrow one required a small cut out to miss the tender brake standard. 11
jazz
The past few days I've been building this Connoisseur Models Pocket Money BR brake van kit. A nice kit to build with loads of rather fiddly etches to fit. Although big Jim says it's not a perfect replica it looks OK to me. 17
jazz
Brake van is now primed and ready for the off. Next on the WB will be the Gladiator LMS 7F. That will be fun after the brake van I think. 11
