Giles
I recently got some 3v 100rpm which I have yet to try..... I bought them with the idea that the low end response might be better.....

Then, of course, I had to take it for a test run: Well done Duncan very realistic, you will have to get them into production, l think they would sell very well ?,
Fastdax
Thanks George. With the amount of effort that went into this (and it's not yet finished!) and my slow rate of work, I'd starve before making a living at it.
34006
Well, what can I say? That's brilliant,Just needs a sound chip with engine and gear box noises and you're away.Pity the poor Driver though,he;s only got Armstrong power steering, and will sweat buckets on a hot day.Seen it,Done it, and got the T shirt. atb Phil
Fastdax
Thanks Phil! I wish there was a sound chip available. The sound of straight-cut gears is very distinctive. I'm adapting a ModelU bus driver with drastic leg surgery to be "Stretch" Armstrong.
Giles
Duncan, If ever you need front axles kits - let me know.... although you fabricate them extremely neatly!

Perhaps the nearest would be an OB bedford bus,I doubt that there are any of those Austin vans left. atb Phil

34006
I wish I knew.I do seem to remember reading somewhere about recording a load of stuff on a mobile phone and playing it back through a computer and various speakers, but I can't think where, when or who right now.Best of it is,it was recently too! Doh! Cheers Phil.
Fastdax
The trick would be to get the sound to change according to the engine speed (motor voltage).

Fastdax
Connoisseur 4F Tender Cab I finally finished off a Connoisseur 4F kit that I've had in a half-competed state for - ahem - a couple of years. I fancied customising the standard kit a bit so settled on building an example with a tender cab, like this: These back boards were added where inclement weather was regular and served to provide a bit of protection for the crew. I'll be numbering mine as 44277, a Skipton loco in 1962. Here are a few pics of the finished item and the tender cab which I scratch-built out of brass sheet: Edited January 29 by Fastdax 6
Fastdax
Connoisseur 4F Tender Cab The 4F was dismantled ready for painting. My go-to primer is U-Pol Acid Etch #8. Followed by Halfords satin black. This was the first of several light coats. There's still primer showing through above the smokebox door but this will get hit on the next coat.
