Long awaited update on the Shed.

I have painted the inside of the shed and put the white wash paint on the lower part, there was no lights inside the shed so the walls was white washed half way up to help brighten the light inside the shed. The office bock is glued onto the main shed and the roof glued on as well, with the two chimneys glued on the roof. the main roof is just put in place, it will be glued on when I glue the shed down and the rest of the roof will be left of so you can see the inside.

I got the roof to do on the repair shed, the down pipes and some fixed ladders, so hopefully it will be glued in place at long last.

O I forgot I am going to put a Airfix Schools class in the repair shed with the front hanging from the crane with the tender parked outside..

I took some pictures of the detail that I have put into the shed before gluing the shed down. The loco is a Airfix kit that have left out the front driving wheels and the bogie and propped up the front as if it is lifted by the crane that I have made inside the repair shed. The rods of the kit are laying down beside the loco on bearers, as with the springs. I have put lots of loco shed bit in that I got from GEM.

In the last few days I have been making the lighting panel. I had made it out plywood, I made two end plates out 12mm ply to be bolted on the ends with flush mount brackets on the top to take the lighting panel. The lighting panel is made of 3mm ply and soft wood in two 4ft each, joined together with hinges so they can be folded half for transportation.

It all needs to be sealed with 50% PVA and 50% water and then with mate Black paint and mate varnish.

Update on lighting Panel.

I have painted the Lighting Panel with diluted PVA to seal the wood then painted it all in blackboard black paint from Wilco's when dry I put mat varnish.

The lights are 5m stipe of bright white LED's. I had enough to run two lengths, one length facing down and the other facing at an angle to the backscene.

A photo taken today on Ray's layout. I've taken a load more and when I get chance will sort them out.

Layout looks fantastic and Ray has worked hard to produce a great layout. Getting ready for Plymouth show in June.

The other day I finished the facia panel.

The letters are made from plasticard cut on a silhouette portrate cutter. I then put double sided tap on the backs. I makes out the panel with dress makers chalk put the letters on then cleaned the chalk of and put a coat of varnish on to seal the letters.
