Popular Post tjf4375
Hello to all, hope everyone's had a fantastic weekend, or at least a good break from work? There have been quite a few stock additions to Sevenoaks over the last few weeks, which I'll cover in a separate post, but work has also been progressing on the BT building, with the roof structures and southern elevation now in place. I've also installed a 'backscene' which turned out to be quite a project in itself, mostly because I'd failed to install it first before building anything in front! Anyway as always hope you enjoy the shots - there will be a few videos to follow as well in due course, but welcome any comments, criticisms and suggestions! 19
KeithHC
Very impressive looks good well done. Just as a matter of interest did you get any further with your class 700 plans. Keith

The Class 700 project is on hold for the moment - I will be coming back to it, but from a slightly different angle - most likely it will involve a conversion project with the Bachmann Desiro.

Popular Post tjf4375
Hi all, Hope everyone's surviving the heat and thunderstorms, and overall enjoying the summer at last! Over the past few weeks I have found myself more immersed in the layout when I've had free time - sitting in the modelling room with the radio on, making trees and building carparks, has somehow worked wonders for keeping the mind occupied and I do wonder what I would do without this hobby sometimes! Anyway the net result of all that tree making is I've managed to build up a lot of the scenic area around the office building (former BT offices, 160 London Road), adding the gravel pathway along the front and the grassy area and steps to the south corner of the building where the road bridge intersects. At the north end of the building is a raised carpark platform from which you can get a magnificent view of the junction. When I did the site visit for this bit of the layout I spent a long time just watching trains coming and going, it's a great spot and I was keen to try and capture the essence of it. Overall I'm really pleased with how this area is looking now, and I'll be tackling the triangular space in the middle of the junction next, which I hope will help to separate out the Otford lines from the main London lines and give a sense that they're going off in different direction! There have been a few additions to the fleet - I'm going to stop buying stock now (I said that several purchases ago) but most notably I was really pleased to be able to get hold of an Accurascale Class 37 when all the main stockists seemed to be sold out. I found this DRS liveried one, DCC ready, on ebay and decided to splash out on the sound decoder and speaker as well. A month or two later the decoder finally arrived and it was great to see (and hear) the model clagging around the layout! It's a really nice model and very pleased with the performance and sound so far. Anyway enough waffle - here are a few pics, and a video, which I hope you find of interest, and as always welcome any feedback and comments! :) Edited June 19, 2023 by tjf4375 30 8
TT100 Diesels
This is a stunning modelling project. So very well observed, the trees and undergrowth just capture the green tunnel railway of today. Take a bow sir!
RMweb Gold jamest Posted June 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 20, 2023 Yes - very good. The blend between track and lineside - and structures and nature - is done very well. That BT building is a fantastic backdrop. All the best, James
WCML100
that is all tying together very well. I particularly like the car park and access steps - give off a very typical basic multi level car park built regularly across the country in the last 20 odd years or so. very nice! RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted June 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 20, 2023 Lovely modelling and very well observed, I can remember it from the fifties and sixties and my has it changed. All the best Adrian.

I'm not sure but I think this building was constructed in the early 2000s so really glad if the model captures that vibe :)

All the best Adrian. Thanks Adrian. I'm not local to Sevenoaks so until I started the layout I've only known it traveling through the station over the years on the way to London. Studying it for the layout I can definitely see drastic changes to the station since the 50s and 60s, when I think it was known as Tubbs Hill, and had additional platforms on the up and down side. Even in the 10 years since I started the layout it's undergone a lot of work 😂

Thanks Jack, really appreciate that. I was pleased with how the carpark area turned out in the end, and it was quite good fun to do. There are some working lights in this area too which I'll try and get some pictures of soon, but the wiring under the baseboard is really awkward to get to so I've been putting off connecting them!

Popular Post tjf4375
Hi everyone, hope you're having a great summer! I've made quite a bit of progress with the scenery at the Otford junction north of Sevenoaks over the past few weeks, so thought it was about time to post an update. It's been quite therapeutic building up the scenery on the junction but I am looking forward to working on some different areas now! As always hope you enjoy the pics, and all feedback, questions and criticism more than welcome. Looking northbound from the down main. Station carpark to the right. RMweb Gold jamest Posted July 17, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 17, 2023 (edited) Hi, That looks great - you have done a fantastic job there. Different shades and subtle tones, small details, really really good. Some of those pictures with the sub-station in the back ground could be real in my eyes. I don't know the area you are modelling but I have a feeling I'd recognize it if I was ever transported there.
