Goods Shed and Resurfacing

In my last blog I think I mentioned that I had purchased some kits from France. The first of these was a goods shed manufactured by ARA. The detail of this kit was superb and although it came with hundreds of extremely detailed pieces it was not too difficult to construct. The shed will be going in the goods yard at the main station on the layout. It will be disused for the purposes of goods but will be used as a track maintenance building. Here are a few pictures of the constructed building:

The kit was plastic (not styrene) and laser cut wood. I painted the building and gave the wood a wash with some watered down acrylics.

Following this I decided that I was motivated enough to lay the roads in the village. Therefore I started measuring the pieces of foam roading out and cutting them to shape. Following the roads instalation pavements and some grass was installed. Not all the grass is going to stay as there are plans for buildings in some of these areas.

The road I have used is a mix of Noch cobled streets and Busch plain tarmac. I used Noch pavements. I intend to soften the tone of the Busch tarmac so it does not look as dark. I am quite pleased with the way it looks but it will look better once all of the little problem areas have been sorted.

Finally over the course of the last week I have been remodelling the track layout of the main station and I am almost at the final configuration (just some tweeks and relaying here and there).

Now this has been done I will be looking at sorting the other baseboards out and linking them together.
