Gerlos: Laying out the track...

Around Christmas time I finally got around to ordering the track. Well it arrived a couple of weeks ago (unexpectedly early), but work has been so busy, I didn't have the lay out the track and check everything was going to work.

Today I have (the car's broken so I can't go anywhere!), and the compositions do fit. But I did find I didn't order enough track! I need another pack of 12 curves to complete the spiral... Never mind!

There is one small issue with the spacing: If you have a right point followed immediately by a left, then the rods on the side of the old Liliput class 2095 clip the point motor dummy of the left hand point when turning right. The Roco coaches make it past fine but it's very tight.

There are three places like this on the the track plan. Two I can resolve easily, but the third is going to be tricky! I guess a SEEP under the board will have to be it....

What is very annoying is that Roco do not supply point motor dummies when you buy the HOe track outside of a start set. I can live with that as I'm going to be fitting point motors, but as the points don't lock, derailments will be likely until they are motorised!

May be I should just bite the bullet and order in 15 PM-4's? I already have one...

As I was rummaging around in my photo collection, I found a photo of a container mounted on top of a standard gauge transporter wagon. This was taken at Mayrhofen in August 2008.
