Southeast Steam Railway - New Arrival

St. Simon

Hi,

The SESR has taken delivery of a new arrival. A Hornby Thompson L1 2-6-4T in BR apple green. This was going to be a Birthday Present, but the untimely arrival of my nephew the day before meant that dad left me with nothing and we haven't been able to order it until Tuesday! It's meant to be a replacement for my very old Bachmann V1 2-6-2T, but I thing I might keep that for old time sake!

The L1's a beautiful model and Hornby have done a superb job on it. Looks good when trundling round Bigporth with my rake of Gresleys! A few pictures now:

A comparision with teh V1:

It could almost be Top Shed!:

In other news, i've managed to finish the interior of the Carriage and Wagon Works and have connected up all the lights! Looks Brilant in the dark!

Looking good - like the new arrival!

A couple of (hopefully!) constructive comments if you don't mind:

It might be worth putting a bit of vegetation around the bottom of the carriage works to hide the gap and prevent light coming through it. It looks as though the central pillar of the carriage works shed is a bit too long - hence it's slanting angle which might be causing it to lift up the front of the shed. If you can, try cutting off a bit off the bottom of the pillar and see if it sits better?

Like I said - it's starting to come together nicely!

Hi,

It's alright, always happy to have constructive comments!

Yes, there is a little bit of light bleed around the base, at the moment it isn't stuck down, it's just 'plonked' on, so that's whats causing the ligt bleed.

I have found that the pikestuff kits can bend, partically the central pillar, that's why it's at a bad angle, just got stick it down to cure it. But I might try your suggestion and cut a small amount off the bottom of it.

Thank you for the compliment, yours is going along nicely as well!
