More Wiring - January 2015

The centre section of the layout where the main station throat is situated got a pair of DCC Concepts solenoid point drivers and another Frog juicer for another complex crossing. In most cases crossing frogs can be wired in parallel with nearby points that are directing trains over the crossing. In this case I thought it easier and more reliable to use the frog juicer. It also meant some other of the more important points got juiced as well.

This was the panel after all of the DC wiring had been removed.

This is the original DC wiring removed from the board.

And this was with the DCC solenoid points drivers fitted.

The wiring was still messier than it could have been but much of that was down to running each point motor through a six way screw terminal block so that point motors could be changed. I'm not sure that some of the point motoros on this elevated section of the layout could be easily changed but at least the screw terminal blocks made it easier.

Wiring the end baseboards was much easier and just needed male and female 4 way XLRs to carry the track power to and from the fiddle yard.
