Earth moving. May 2007

Lots of chickens and eggs at this point since certain parts of the layout had to be finished in the centre section before other things could happen. Bridge sides had to be fitted so that ballasting could continue. Also ballasting needed to go onto the edges of walls, platforms and embankments so some of those were needed too. Embankments were PVA and kitchen roll over polystyrene

The cafe and waterway museum needed to be checked for space on the dock side. Bridge sides fitted so that ballast could be contained. Something would be needed as a wall up to the railway line behind.

Bridge sides fitted. Here is the old original mainline bridge with the extra bridge for the yard behind. Fitting embankments between the two bridges was fiddly.

Meanwhile on the approaches a tunnel mouth for the line to enter the layout and then building up the land to the upper abandoned railway line. Peco tunnel entrance

The upper trackbed leading to the disused viaduct. Again the trackbed is exactly two pieces of 50mm wood above the baseboard.
