Return to Coketown. April 2007
There must have been some sort of hiatus at this point. We move on to April 2007 and the next photos. I have obviously grown heartily sick of the colours of the ballast in the yard and mainline approaches. There's a possibility that it took me a while to getting around to lifting the track with the brown ballast. I dont remember it taking too long since all of the ballast and track was only held down by PVA glue. I think I had coloured the rail sides using brown marker pens which have a slight oily rainbow colour about them which is semi gloss. At this point the raills on the front of the layout were painted using track colour enamel.
With grey ballast you get a basic colour to then weather down to as old and dirty as you like. The grimness of the original black siding ballast was relieved slightly and it meant I could come back later to colour it appropriately.
Now I could finish off track joints before ballasting across the baseboard gaps.
