1939 Dia H33 Restaurant Composite

As ever, I can’t keep away from building rolling stock - even when dealing with a layout extension.

Currently making steady progress is my 1939 Diagram H33 restaurant composite. I was lucky enough to find a slightly damaged Hornby Collett TK (the new tooling) for a very low price, thus the conversion project was set.

The majority of the coach has been cut away, using trimmed down Comet brass sides as overlays. The interior is a spare from one of Hornby’s old “Collett” dining coaches.

Tonight’s activity has involved drilling holes for, and securing shell ventilators on the roof as well as adding the third battery box and gas tanks on the underframe.

For some reason the below image will only upload upside down, despite having tried to rotate it. Do try and imagine it the right way up, but hopefully you can see the new detail added!

The plan is for the coach to be painted in the later GWR livery so it can run with my Hornby Hawksworth vehicles - impressive vehicles in their own right.

Fun times, at least it keeps me out of trouble!

Hope this helps, all being done very neatly: impressed, Keith.

Thanks, that makes it a little easier to view!

There’s a photo of the H33 roof on my website:  H33 roof  It pre-refurbishment and you’re modelling post-refurbishment but I don’t think the roof details changed.
