Blacksmiths GWR Railmotor Coming together......slowly
I am making slow progress with the Railmotor:
The motor bogie is now fettled and runs quite smoothly - hopefully will be better once run in.
I have added the motion bracket and decided the cylinders will be bolted in place to aid maintenance (removed for this shot). There are rings at the ends of the slide bars which then secure them to the cylinders.
The bogie is on the chassis, but the motor protrudes into the luggage compartment - not the end of the world.
I made up the trailing bogie. A pretty easy, fold up design which went together well. Top hat bearings were added and the wheels run very freely first time of asking
I thought the levels looked out, but the driving end wheels are 16mm and the trailing wheels are 14mm, so it looks a bit peculiar - as if it is jacked up at the trailing end. But, everything is level but about 1mm too high when compared to the drawing - might be useful for platform clearances!
It should look less "leggy" once the solebars and underframe are done.
Apart from drilling the holes for handrails, foor handles and other furniture, the body is untouched. Lots of fold up bits for the underframe and at the top of the sides to mount the roof.
I plan to make the roof removable, securing it with magnets.
Coming together - slowly!
