Episode10: Moving Day
With the Removal men due tomorrow to start packing everything up for us, today has been about checking everything is clean and ready.
The baseboard factory has now closed down and everything of value removed - and it looks like some moss is already starting to encroach upon the outside assembly area:
The drying / testing room has also been cleared - a very useful facility which I expect I’ll miss more than I realise:
Everything I’m taking is now awaiting collection in the garage (something else the new house doesn’t have):
I have been given a new shed by the landlord (our Diocese). It will be much appreciated, but is only 2m x 2m (all there is space for).
And this is my collection, what I’ve kept after the latest clear out:
A close up of the buildings that I’m taking / couldn’t bear to part with:
The two Churches have been intentionally left unfinished, so the spires don’t suffer damage in transit. Possibly the building I have least use for (at the moment) is the grain elevator, I just didn’t want to part with it. Diocesan policy is for full-pack moves due to insurance reasons: last time we moved the only ‘damage’ I noticed was a cardboard Metcalfe chimney that came loose in transit - I’ll see on the other side how we get on this time.
I’ve also bought a couple of Metcalfe OO kits to go with my Class 24 (header photo) just in case the urge to do some modelling kicks in before we’ve unpacked properly and I can sort out my project plans - I enjoy making the card kits (and they don’t involve loads of smelly paint or strong glue).
Have a good week, Keith.
