My new start
Well, here goes. My first blog. I first started railway modelling many years ago, then work, marriage and family stopped play. Now that I've retired, I'm back. I chose to build the Hornby "Build It" layout, but with my own twist on it. I've put the main line on a curve to add interest and will terminate with a level crossing,as if the line went further then was cut. In the goods yard I have installed a double slip, again, to add interest. Track is Peco Code 75, with live frog points. At the moment it's analogue with Seep motors. Last year, whilst in York, I bought an e-link DCC system, purely out of curiousity you understand. I intended to use this for the layout, but now realize it's got limitations. As I intend to go full DCC I'm going to visit DCC Supplies (a 200 mile round trip) for more info. Probably end up with a Powercab and a fistful of reptiles (Tortoises in other words). I'm thoroughly enjoying the planning of this project and the advances in the quality of the models is brilliant. Having said that however, as I prefer the industrial animal, there isn't a lot around. I have a Hornby L&Y Pug and the Sentinel, both chipped, plus an ARC Barclay squirreled away, waiting for a chassis. I won't put it on the Pug chassis as it won't look right.Ah well, back to the workshop.
