Happy Sunday at Didcot Railway Centre! The Swindon Panel Society held a 'work-day' digging out the footings for the new building, assisting the 'usual suspects' from DRC's own civil engineering team. Seemed like an ideal opportunity to hand over the model!
Richard Antliff (head of the Civil Engineering team (standing in black t-shirt) and Danny Scroggins (Swindon Panel Society)(kneeling) point out features to another volunteer....
So THIS model is finished - however Danny has asked me to make a large-scale version of 'the panel' that the SPS can take to presentations etc. Killing two birds with one stone I suggested it could be made as a 'charity box' with a coin slot at either end. Placing a coin in either slot will cause 'chase lights' to travel the length of the panel.... Then there's the 'working layout' based on the Reading Signal Training Centres model used to train signalmen... Should keep me busy for the next couple of years!
Regards
Ian
