Initial rolling stock plans

The plan is to build the vehicles used on the Clachbeg branch and not be distracted by interesting but un-prototypical vehicles...

As such the building plan will encompass:

  • Patrick—Internal combustion engine: this is the 3-ton Plymouth I’d like from Sierra Valley Enterprises in ready-to-run form. It is on order and will arrive in due course. A wonderful indulgence justified by a significant birthday!
  • Sandy—Internal combustion engine: this will be a scratch-built Simplex
  • Canisp—9' third-class coach: this will be scratch-built
  • Quinag—9' second-class brake: this will be scratch-built
  • Suilven—9' first-class coach: this will be scratch-built
  • Wagon 3—9' potato wagon: this is a kit from Modellbau Werkstatt
  • Wagon 12—9' flat: ready-to-run Sierra Valley Enterprises model
  • Wagon 22—9' single-plank: this is a Raif Copley Ffestiniog Open Wagon kit
  • Wagon 25—6'6" skip: this is a kit from Mike’s Models
  • Wagon 29—crew and stores van: this is a Raif Copley Freelance Brake Van kit
  • Wagon 34—9' van: this will be scratch-built
  • Wagon 40—Steel Disconnect Bogie: this is (half of) a kit from The Train Department
  • Wagon 44—7' dropside: this will be scratch-built
  • Wagon 46—6'2" PWD weedkiller bowser based upon a Bundaberg Cane Utility Wagon Kit from The Train Department
  • Wagon 52— Steel Disconnect Bogie: this is (half of) a kit from The Train Department
  • Wagon 53—6'3" tanker: this will be scratch-built on a miha chassis
  • Wagon 71—peat: this is a Bundaberg Cane Wagon Kit from The Train Department
  • Wagon 78—9' refrigerated van: this will be scratch-built
  • Wagon 83—9' flat: this will be scratch-built
  • Wagon 88—7' flat: this is a kit from Modellbau Werkstatt
  • Wagon 93—three-plank dropside wagon: this is a kit from Modellbau Werkstatt

This is not the order of builds.

P.W.D. vehicles may of course put in an appearance too. One consideration is the capacity of the layout, which (including the fiddle yard) can cope with at most 18 vehicles including a locomotive.
