Loudwater

Just came across this site when viewing images of Loudwater station, mainly concerning the layout that was shown.

Brought back quite a few memories as I lived in the station house from 1960-1964. I moved up from living in Plymouth where my dad worked on the railways and was transferred to High Wycombe/Princes Risborough area. The then station master ( Mr Lewellyn) decided not to live in the station house so we moved in. Loved living there with the trains rumbling past my bedroom window. Used to get quite a few visits to the signal box to see how this all worked with the gates being operated by Eric the signalman who used to wander down to the Happy Union Inn between trains!

The house was quite basic 2 bedrooms where my brother and I slept, window faces the platform and a second bedroom for my parents. A living room which had a window to the platform and the yard side.

A 'front' room which seemed to be quite low looking out of the window was almost level with the plaform.

Thankfully trains did not run during the night, except for special trains or work was being carried out on the Wycombe - Marylebone line. I'll try to dig out some pictures and get them posted

Sounds good, I know someone who is talking about building a model of Loudwater Station.
