4575 painted at last! Now it's time for trackwork....

After quite a struggle I've finished brush painting my Tower Brass 4575. The finish is not immaculate but it seems to have some realism, which I shall try and increase with some restrained weathering and adjusting of the levels of gloss - not yet though - I have a lot of track to build!blogentry-11712-0-31619000-1369582124_thumb.jpgblogentry-11712-0-51958800-1369582257_thumb.jpgblogentry-11712-0-85181400-1369582341_thumb.jpg

That's a lovely finish, Rob, but tapered chimneys (with the exception of the Aberdares) were never copper-topped.

Thanks for that Miss Prism!  When I get round to my weathering I will face a choice;  1) stick to the historical truth or 2) do it the way I would like it  to have been done!  By the way, my excuse for the polished safety valve bonnet is that, in my world, 5531 was a "pet" engine of its shed and so given special treatment.  That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
